Sam Rutherford
and Beatrice De Smet set up Prepare2go mid-way through 2000. They
saw that there was a need for a service catering to the rally/expedition
market - thus was born Prepare2go.
Sam was an officer in the British army,
flying helicopters, for over 8 years. During this time, his work took
him to Latin America, Asia and Northern Ireland. Sam left the army in
1998, to organise and lead
the London to Sydney Overland Expedition (www.lsoexped.com).
Now with personal experience of over 70 countries worldwide,
Sam has been contracted as an expedition and travel consultant by independants
and commercial/governmental organisations.
Also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society he is the author of their
"Guide to Independent Overland Travel" and is chairman of their
Vehicle-based Expeditions Panel. Since early 2000, Sam has led the logistics
side of Prepare2go.
Beatrice
had been a lawyer in an international firm in Brussels for 4 consecutive
years, when she realised in 1998 that her dreams lay elsewhere. She backpacked
for a year and a half extensively through Africa and Asia and worked in
Safari camps in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Together with Sam she
has travelled extensively with 4x4's in the Lybian and Algerian Sahara
desert, but also experienced the magnificence of discovering the Jordanian
Wadi Rum desert on a horseback. Like Sam, she is a fellow of the Royal
Geographical Society and leads the "other" logistic side of
Prepare2go.
Sam and Beatrice work with a team of independants, mostly from a military
background. They each have almost unparallelled expertise in their specific
areas and are chosen for each particular mission.
